Meet at the Marshall Cabin, 8288 Hwy Q, Baileys Harbor • 1:00 PM. The Ridges in winter shows a beautiful, serene landscape that is enjoyed by those who love Wisconsin winters. These hikes with a Ridges naturalist cover the cultural and natural history of the ridges and swales in their “off season." Enjoy a leisurely hike on level terrain. HANDS ON ART STUDIO ADULT NIGHTS – FISH CREEK

Hands On Adult Nights are from 6:30-10:00 each Friday night all year long attracting a diverse crowd, 21 and older, for food, drink, and do-it-yourself art projects in the relaxed atmosphere of the Art Barn. "THE THEORY OF EVERYTHING" MOVIE AT DOOR COMMUNITY AUDITORIUN - FISH CREEK

On Friday, January 29 at 7 p.m., DCA will present a free screening of The Theory of Everything, James Marsh’s 2014 biopic of the celebrated scientist Stephen Hawking. Starring Eddie Redmayne as Hawking, The Theory of Everything begins with Hawking’s early academic career at Cambridge, his romance with his future wife, Jane, and his shocking diagnosis of ALS at the age of 21. Marsh then follows Hawking’s life over the following decades, exploring the challenging and often surprising effects of ALS on both his career and his marriage.  The film screening is free to the public and is sponsored by Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant and Butik. Freewill donations are encouraged.

DCA DISTINGUISHED LECTURE SERIES - FISH CREEK

Topic: "Wisconsin Trout Streams"  9am - 12pm.920-868-2728   On Saturday, January 30 at 9 a.m., DCA’s Distinguished Lecture Series will present a lecture entitled “The Geological and Environmental History of Wisconsin Trout Streams,” delivered by Dr. Nelson R. Ham, professor of geology and environmental science at St. Norbert College. Ham will discuss Wisconsin’s rich geological heritage of cold water streams, which supported native brook trout for thousands of years after the last ice age. He will also explain the rapid destruction of this habitat by Euro-American settlers in the 1800s—why it happened and to what extent the fisheries have since recovered. Dr. Ham’s lecture is free to the public (freewill donations accepted) and is sponsored by Dahl Law Firm and Ross Estate Planning; lodging is provided by Homestead Suites. Refreshments from Base Camp Coffee Shop will be available for purchase.

On Saturday, January 30 at 7 p.m., the DCA mainstage will come alive with a performance by Lizzy the Dream Girl, who explores the hilarious side of hypnosis and helps audiences discover the amazing power of the human mind. Audience members leave Lizzy’s performances having experienced the positive effects of long-term, uncontrollable laughter. Volunteers from each audience become stars of the show, giving people something to laugh and talk about long after the show is over. Lizzy’s show will be tasteful and appropriate for all ages. Tickets to the performance are $15 or $10 for students (all tickets are general admission). The concert is sponsored by the Cordon Family Foundation; lodging is provided by Homestead Suites. Advance reservations are recommended and can be made at the DCA box office, located on Highway 42 in Fish Creek. ANNUAL CANDLELIGHT SKI – STURGEON BAY

This very popular event is held annually at Whitefish Dunes State Park, 3275 Clark Lake Road, on the last Saturday of January.  Join the Friends of Whitefish Dunes for a night of skiing and fun on snow covered, candle lit trails.  The picnic shelter will be open and the fireplace lit. Hot beverages and cookies will be provided to warm the insides and provide energy. A park sticker is required to join in the evening event, but the event is free.   5:30 – 8:30 PM.
