It always looked pleasant enough, and the sign –well – we always admired the sign boasting the name, Cape Cod Motel. So we pulled in and met with the owner, Lynn, who filled us in on her 20+ years running the inn, and who took us on our tour. She grew up right up the road from the motel, which has been completely renovated within the last 5 years!
Let’s start out saying that this is a simple motel, with 9 rooms 5 of which have queen beds and 4 of which have a queen and a double bed. So, right away, there is a variety of accommodations depending on your traveling party.
The grounds are well kept and include a picnic area around back with a round umbrella-ed table and lots of room, while off in the front to the left of the inn is a play set for kids – with swings and a slide. Also on the premises, in the main office, is an Amish shop that sells a huge variety of items in made in the Amish tradition, from quilts to small furniture pieces. So shop while you check in or out, or just make this cute little shop a destination! All the rooms come with air conditioning/heat, a TV, microwave and small refrigerator. All are decorated in a similar fashion, with a county flare and nice, whimsical artwork on the walls, and all are carpeted.
Room 1
We toured a sample of each room type (as above). Room 1 is a queen room and double bed combination. The room was big enough, comfortable, and clean. There as a nightstand aside each bed, with lamp, pleasant artwork on the walls, and country tough with pine shelf and country floral whisk. 2 chairs completed the room. The bathroom is cozy, small, with a stand-up shower stall, small vanity and tiled floor.
Room 2
This room is a queen bed only room, smaller in square footage than Room 1, but once again comfortable. A writing desk, side table with wall mounted reading light, and nice country touches again with the pine wooden shelf, art and multi-colored quilt.Lots of folks have told Lynn that the motel looks a like the Cape Cod Motel in Cape Cod, Ma. So she stuck with the name, and keeps this motel very reasonably priced (like $59 - $89 in peak season).
Nearby are restaurants, golf courses, bakeries, shops, ice cream and a whole lot more! And be sure to check out the Amish Corner, the shop right on the grounds! Check out the Cape Cod Motel and please tell them that DoorCountyNavigator.com sent you! This is Property ID # DCNAV-7862.
