As we traverse the land, we'll share the legend and lore unique to each area. Don't forget to bring your camera! Learn from the locals the best places to wine, dine, and relax. 3-4 tours daily.   • Dates of Event: 5/25/17 – 5/28/17 At the Ridges Sanctuary. Your opportunity to learn more about wildflowers, geology, birds and insects through field trips and hands-on programs. Our field trip leaders will guide you through some of the most pristine and unique natural areas in the county, some of which are not typically open to the public. Conservation organizations in Door County will share ways in which they are working to preserve our rich natural heritage for the future. And, along the way, you’ll have an opportunity to share your love of the natural world with other conservation-minded participants from all over the Midwest. Online registration will be available in April. You can register online, or download a brochure and register by mail. $25-$90, cost varies based on type and length of field trip.   • Dates of Event: Daily, May through October Cruise launches from the dock adjacent to the Door County Maritime Museum, 120N.Madison Ave. Each narrated tour lasts 1½ hours and cruises either through the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal or to Sherwood Point Lighthouse (weather permitting). Snacks and refreshments, including full bar, are available on board for sale during the cruise. Daily cruises during July-August peak season. Third Ave. VELVET GENTLEMAN is a colorful journey into the mind and music of the witty and eccentric composer Erik Satie whose music ranges from comically bizarre to hauntingly beautiful. Created and performed by TAP’s co-artistic director James Valcq, this multimedia theatre piece featuring Satie’s music, words, and drawings will transport audiences to fin de siécle Paris. 7:30 PM – Thurs, Fri, Sat. 2:00 PM - Sunday. $27/general admission. $7/ child. $10/student. Fifteen historically restored buildings filled with artifacts, photos, videos, and stories. Family fun crafts, butter making, wood crafts and more. Scavenger hunt for kids with free ice cream reward.   • Dates of Event: Friday October - May At Door County YMCA, 1900 Michigan St; 6:30 P.M. - 8:30 P.M. Enjoy swimming, dancing, gym games like soccer and dodgeball, craft activities, concessions and hanging out with all of your friends. Don't forget your swimsuit and towel (2nd through 5th graders may use the pool, 1st graders cannot)! Participants are required to wear non-marking shoes to help protect the gym floor.   • Dates of Event: Fridays, Weekly Hands On Adult Nights are from 6:30-10:00 each Friday night all year long attracting a diverse crowd, 21 and older, for food, drink, and do-it-yourself art projects in the relaxed atmosphere of the Art Barn. Selected Adult Nights feature Live Music.  It is a 3 1/2 hour kids-free zone. All the studio spaces are open and ready for you to have a fun evening playing with art. The studio fee for the entire evening is $7 plus the cost of your art project.   • Dates of Event: Memorial Day Weekend - 5/27/17 - 5/28/17 At Lakeside Park in Jacksonport on Hwy 57, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Maifest includes a juried art fair; midway activities for children; concession stands selling funnel cakes, kolaches, brats and hot dogs; live music; and a car show. The Maifest parade is at 10:30 AM Saturday, a 10K run and 2-mile fun run at Lakeside Park on Sunday at 9 AM; the 4-H Horse and Pony Drill Team and Frontier Farmers horse pull at the ball field beginning at 1 PM Sunday.
