Mink River Basin in Ellison Bay has been run by this same family since 2000.  It offers a great pub experience, with about 30 draft beers, and some good eating too with pub food and other great selections for lunch and dinner.

It’s a large building that’s been around for a long time.  Walk in, and you are looking down the bar.  You might see Linden back there bartending.  To the left and right are the dining Mink River fish tacosrooms.  This is casual all the way, and friendly.  They bill themselves as “The Northern Most Sports Bar On the Peninsula.”  We think they have that covered!   Mink River Basin is a cool, comfortable palce where you will feel at ease.

We have sent our reviewers in here for dinners and lunches, and have always had a good experience with the friendly staff and the food as well.

Menu Offerings

They’ve got cool things on the menu.  For starters they have some standards like chicken wings and nachos.  But then they have a “Brew House” platter with shrimp, chicken strips, jalapeno snappers, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, & mushrooms;  and a “Tavern Sampler” with jalapeno snappers, mozzarella sticks, cheddar snaps, onion rings, mushrooms, waffle fries.  Nice.  But then you can get a half-pound of peel and east shrimp, and all kinds of Wisconsin curds.

They’ve got 12 inch pizzas with a whole bunch of different topping options and  their famous half-pound burgers  like one that is a  “12 Pepper Butter Bacon Cheeseburger (12 Pepper Spice, bacon, & pepper jack)”.  Whoa!  Another with Cajun spices, and even a veggie burger.  Try one!

Other Sandwiches
Try a Cuban, or a Pit Boss (Deli sliced Prime Rib, with Au Jus) ; Santa Fe chicken, grilled Mink River foodham and cheese – some of the standards – a club wrap (which is unusual) with turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, & Ranch mayo; or slow cooked pot roast.  Mmmm.  Lots more.

Baskets
Lots of baskets.  Fish: perch; whitefish; walleye; beer battered shrimp; beer batter cod.  Or a basket of chicken fingers, or home made egg rolls.  Even broasted chicken.  Ok – you’re getting the idea – lots of good choices here!

Mink River Features/Dinner

Note: All dinners include Soup or Salad, Vegetable, and Choice of Potato Mashed, Baked, Hash Browns, or French Fries

  • Local whitefish: deep fried, blackened of Cajun.  Your choice.
  • BBQ Ribs: Slow roasted and beer-soaked pork ribs – how bad can that be?
  • Slow roasted prime rib is offered on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday Nights
  • Broiled Norwegian Salmon with dill sauce
  • A 12 ounce Broiled Rib Eye
  • Mink River Chicken
  • 3 Cheese Ravioli (have to have a pasta!) - ricotta, fontina, parmesan, and pecorino cheese and baked in marinara

Then sometimes there’s a special.  We had fish tacos on our last outing there and it was a plateful – and a delicious plateful.  I managed to finish it all – it was that good.  Three huge tacos stuffed with battered fish and the standard accoutrements, with containers of sour cream, tomato and onion and hot peppers.

The Bar
The bar has 30 beers on tap!  That is awesome if you are a beer over.  And some are local beers made right in Door County.  You will find several you like.  Trust us.  And it’s a full bar too – so anything else you want, they pretty much have it.

We say head up to Ellison Bay, see Ellison Bay Bluff County Park (awesome), have lunch or dinner at Mink River Basin and enjoy a great time!  And oh – tell them, please, that DoorCountyNavigator.com sent you!
