The Shops at Liberty Square
7755 Hwy 42
Egg Harbor

Liberty Square is such an exciting addition to the Door County landscape for dining, shopping and fun. All under one roof, you can dine at a great restaurant, shop at nine unique and wonderful shops, select from gourmet foods and wines for your own purchase, and even listen to music and attend casual wine tastings!
We met with the owners, who launched this concept in 2007. Pam was showing us around at first, and told us that the whole concept at Liberty Square was to make it easy and fun for people, a place that is welcoming, different and friendly – “a time out from the worries in life,” she explained. The Shops at Liberty Square deliver on her vision!
Pam explained the concept of what is offered throughout Liberty Square: you can find unique items (truly unlike things you will find on the rest of the peninsula), that are pleasing and different and offer great value for the money. Lots of Wisconsin and regional artists are represented in the gallery and throughout the shops, as well as items made off-shore purchased through fair-trade vendors.
You can walk from shop to shop without having to go outside!
The Shops
If you enter through The Bistro restaurant (excellent by the way!), you will see a shop that specializes in cards, specialized gift wraps, stationery from Italy by Cavallini, nautical stationery (something for the guys) and lots more. There are probably about 500 different types of unique cards – a larger selection than just about anywhere on the peninsula. Included, of course, is a large selection of Door County cards and postcards of lighthouses, boats, and cherry orchards to name a few. Nature-related notebooks and postcards represent some of the flora and fauna of Door County too.
Continue walking and you will find spectacular game furniture, gorgeous chess boards and pieces, and lots of very interesting things made out of recycled products. For example, there was a very cool nautical looking bag – made from an actual recycled sail! You will find a great selection of beautiful travel games in wooden cases, like cribbage, backgammon, Chinese checkers, chess and poker. Perfect for travel, or sitting around the pool or beach or front porch. We thought they were well-crafted, beautiful and fun. What a great gift!
Here you will also find lots of wall mirrors and home accessories, vases, ceramics, silk flower arrangements (for travelers and residents!), furniture by Henkel Harris or Mackenzie Dow (both on the floor and available through catalogue), and mostly made in the U.S. Dining room tables, beds and more by Woodbridge (an off-shore company) are also avaialble (very similar Bakers/Milling Road). The Leather Craft line of leather chairs and club chairs is also represented – comfortable and beautiful. You’ll also find through The Shops, a special line of ink pens and Door County artist posters and art.
Next, step into the section for women’s jewelry and accessories. Wow – we think you will love this section. Offering many one-of-a-kind items, priced from about $20 to the hundreds of dollars, you will discover something you will cherish. Amanda DeWitt, a jewelry artist, makes silver pieces for them – bracelets, necklaces and earrings. Many items have semi-precious stones, and women will find many different scarves from around the world (hard to find in Door County) and purses like you have not seen before – made from shells and other different items. Many of the handbags are from fair-trade dealers from all over the world, from Cambodia to Brazil, representing lines like Escarma, and Mad Bags
Chemical-free cosmetics reign supreme here – lotions, oils, lip balm, joint liniment and more. Lines like Four Elements and Dr. Hauschka give you a chemical-free option. Pam says women love these lines!
In this area, you will also find a nice selection of items for kids up to about 8 years old – games, toys, and more – great gifts for kids or grandkids!
If you choose to stop outside onto the porch, in high season, you will find outdoor furniture for purchase, from Telescope Furniture to Glouster Furniture (which is teak wood).
You can continue your shopping by heading into the Gourmet shop, where you will find wines and chesses, specialty sandwiches and more! Read our review on this site! Also check out The Board Room, part of Liberty Square, where you can attend wine tastings and even host your own party there – a gorgeous, well-appointed room with wood furnishings and leather couches, large screen television and fabulous dinners offered on special dates! Or pick up some great wines and cheeses and more at the Gourmet Foods, Wines and Spirits at Liberty Square. The Liberty Square Art and Decoration Center also will enhance what you can put in your home!
There is plenty of onsite parking and free WiFi throughout the center! And from any shop under the Liberty Square banner, The Shops at Liberty Square, the Gourmet Food, Wine and Spirits, and from The Liberty Square Art and Decoration Center, the folks here will ship your purchase anywhere and at their cost!
Simply put, The Shops at Liberty Square are first-class all the way – in appearance and in what they offer and in service! You will love this discover, so make it part of your next Door County trip! And when you step into this wonderful escape, please tell them that DoorCountyNavigator.com sent you! |
