From the lovely parlors and theme-decorated rooms overlooking pretty grounds to the English-style pub and hot breakfast buffet, Church Hill Inn is absolutely delightful. The 34-room Church Hill Inn offers a cozy and charming environment, characteristic of an English inn, as well as contemporary resort–like amenities such as a pool and exercise room with sauna and Internet access. “We try to give our guests the best of both worlds—to have the feel of a bed and breakfast with the amenities of a hotel,” says Mike Goldstone, innkeeper. The pretty yellow inn sits on a hill and offers a location within walking distance to Sister Bay’s downtown area and the nearby Country Walk shops.
All accommodations offer private bath, a balcony or patio, television/cable, telephone and individually controlled air conditioning and heat. Guests (adults only) also indulge in luxury linens and triple sheeting on beds. And if you have seen one room at Church Hill Inn, you have, well, seen just one room. Here, accommodations have varying decorating themes, so you may have to come a few times to find a favorite. For example, there’s the songbird room adorned with prints of birds on the walls and wooden birdhouses all around. The golf room has sporting memorabilia including a photo of Jack Nicklaus with three other professional players. Most rooms offer views of the gardens or the outdoor pool, which is heated and open May through September. Guests access their rooms from wide parlors, providing additional places to sit and enjoy a fire in the gas fireplace and admire the pretty antiques and reproductions accenting the areas. Each parlor also has a refrigerator, accessible to guests who do not have an in-room refrigerator. “Each parlor has a theme, too: music, library, games and botanical,” explains Wendy Goldstone, innkeeper. A lower level exercise room is outfitted with a treadmill, Nordic track, stepper, free weights, exercise bike and sauna. A television and Internet access are also available here. And you may need to visit that exercise room after indulging in the hot breakfast, served in the two-story dining room. Three hot entrees are offered daily. Specialties of the house include artichoke soufflé, breakfast quiche, French toast, scrambled eggs and oatmeal. Bakery goods such as English toasting bread and banana muffins are also available. On the daily menu are Church Hill Inn granola, fresh fruit and cereal. A favorite gathering spot is the honor bar, reminiscent of an English pub, where people can enjoy a drink. Domestic beers and wines are served, and complimentary tea and coffee are available throughout the day. “People just love to hang out here,” Wendy says. The innkeepers are proud that Church Hill Inn is a destination onto itself. “We get a lot of couples who come together and girlfriends who come together. They reunite each year as a group. And they just want to be here,” Wendy says. After taking the tour of Church Hill Inn, we can certainly understand why. This is a lovely place to stay; the decorating is outstanding and amenities abound. We think you will enjoy! So give Church Hill Inn a call, and let them know DoorCountyNavigator.com chartered your way up that hill. |
