Places to Stay : Egg Harbor

Lull-Abi Inn
7928 Hwy 42
Egg Harbor
920-868-3135
866-251-0749

We have driven by this place many, many times and never stopped in. Well, all this time we were driving by a very pleasant surprise, and so this time we stopped in and met with the new owners!

This two-story, 24 room inn has a warm and friendly lobby of stained pine and pleasant appointments like potted plants, and dark green leather cushioned mission-style chairs. Guests can grab a cup of coffee here, and watch satellite TV too. And since 2006, the Lull-Abi Inn offers wireless internet access available throughout the property and all rooms - at no extra charge.

Outside the landscaping includes evergreens, elms, shrubs, flowers, native trees, birdbaths and more. And the inn is directly across the road from the Green Bay waters of Egg Harbor, and right next to a wonderful breakfast and lunch place, The Village Café. And you can walk to town if you want! And this inn is very reasonably priced – you will be amazed! The new owner said to us, “Our goal is to be the best inn in Egg Harbor.” So far so good!

The Rooms
All the rooms include nice amenities like hair dryers, shampoo, TV, air conditioning, refrigerators, coffee makers and private baths.

We began our tour of the rooms with a Deluxe Room, # 1. This is one of 3 King Junior Suites, which also includes a microwave, fridge, and wet bar. You walk into a small sitting room with oak trimmed furniture, a floral loveseat, and a partial view of the harbor. The private king bedroom was appointed with a comforter, TV, lamps on each nightstand, and some tasteful artwork. The bathroom has the wash sink in a separate room (which is always nice when more than one person is getting ready), a private toilet/shower area with a combo bath/shower.

Off to Deluxe room # 7. Affording both a front and rear view, this room also offers a nice view of the bay from the entry sitting room. There, a table and 2 chairs, floral striped loveseat, microwave and fridge await you. As you walk in the bedroom, the king bed has a nice comforter, and there is a separate TV in the bedroom. The bath has a shower/tub combo, and the rear view sports a view of the lawn, with chairs for relaxing or having a cup of coffee outside. If traveling with 2 couples, then Rooms # 6 and 7 are nice to rent, since they are right next to each other.

We also toured a Deluxe King, Room #24, which is upstairs. With a couple of chairs on the private balcony, a great king-size bed, a table with chairs, microwave, fridge and more – you can’t go wrong! The bath has a private toilet and bath/shower. But, we are saving the best for last here. When you are on the balcony in front, you get one terrific view of the harbor, as you can see in the photo here! This is awesome, and so reasonably priced even in peak season, this room is a real winner for just about anyone! Besides the King Junior Suites and Deluxe Kings, there is a third type, Single Queens, and so we toured #23 as an example. As with all the rooms at the Lull Abi Inn, this room had a fridge and a coffeemaker and a queen bed with double nightstands, round table and 2 chairs, and a balcony with another very nice view of the bay across the road!

Lastly, there are 2 “Sunrise Suites”, both upstairs, and both facing East allowing a stream of morning sunlight to flood the suites. We toured both. First, we toured #34, which Bruce told us was the most requested room. The balcony view offers a serene view of trees, flowers and the hot tub room off to the left. The bedroom has a king bed with plush comforter. The suite also offers a sleeper sofa, which is nice.   You’ll also find a flat screen TV and a DVD player here, and if you like the owners’ taste in movies, then their movie selection is available for your use at the inn for free; you’ll find them in the office.

Back downstairs, we toured the # 12 Sunrise Suite. Once again, there is a lovely view of the gardens in the back. You enter the sitting room with a blue floral couch, lounge chair, microwave, fridge, TV and DVD. The sofa, again, is a sleeper. Nice! The bathroom is large, with a tub/shower combo. The king bed, dressed in a plush comforter, sports a dark cherry wood headboard, and has a matching dresser. A comfortable wing-back chair also graces the bedroom, and there is also a nice view of the yard area from the bedroom window.

Also upstairs, great for families or friends traveling together, are three Double Queen rooms. Each has two queen beds – the one we toured sported another plush comforter; the room also had a table and 2 chairs, a wing back chair, and nice bathrooms, with the sink outside the toilet/tub area.

Hot Tub!
Around back, the property continues, and has a very large area of lawns, trees shrubs, flowers and more to offer tranquility and peace. Also around the back is the hot tub room, which we toured. In a gazebo-style room of stained pine, you can sit and relax in an 8 person hot tub. Towels are conveniently offered at tub-side, and there are a few lounge chairs for just relaxing before or after. Just outside, there is a concrete deck with lounge chairs so you can soak up the rays on nice, Door County summer days.
