Kick Coffee
148 N. 3rd Ave
Sturgeon Bay, Wi

Coffee shops still are a lure to us all who love coffee, fresh snacks, and light entries. Well, Kick Coffee, opened in 2001, is a well designed little shop offering great coffees, pastries, and light fare.

Shannon, who we have known for years in Door County, purchased the shop in April 2002. The colorful shop has an upscale feeling, with a down-to-earth style. Small and cozy, done up in its signature oranges and greens, the shop has 4 indoor tables and another 9 or so small tables in the garden out back for fair weather sipping. Every 4 – 6 weeks or so, the artwork on the walls will be rotated to feature a new artist - nice touch. They are available for purchase as well.

Choose your favorites from espresso, cappuccino, latte, mocha and add a shot of just about any flavor you want. Choose a snack from muffins, cranberry breads fresh fruit, carrot cake, chocolate saucy cake, tiramisu (it means “a pick me up” in Italian because of the coffee in it), hazelnut cappuccino torte and more. Bagels, scones, biscotti, granola and some like lunch items like a “peasant lunch” (comprised of a hearty soup, a wedge of Wisconsin cheese, and fresh bread) round out the offerings. A salad and a couple of sandwich offerings (in the roast turkey or beef variety) adds more variety.

A long time ago, the shop, with original tin ceilings, was a barber shop – and Shannon had his hair cut there for about 9 years! This adds a new dimension for Shannon.

Some gift items, like mugs t-shirts and “Alterra Kick Coffee” packs are available.

Kick Coffee is open year round, and is open from 7:30 AM to 6PM Monday – Thursday, 7:30AM – 9PM on Fridays and Saturdays.

While we were reviewing the place, a couple of ladies were there and commented that they really like the chicken soup! We liked the coffee we tried, the atmosphere, and of course, Shannon – who makes you feel right at home whether you are a local (many of whom frequent his shop) or a visitor from elsewhere.

If you’re staying at one of the many fine B&Bs or resorts or inns in Sturgeon Bay, definitely make Kick Coffee a certain stop. The many quaint shops along 3rd Avenue make for a great morning or afternoon outing, no matter where you are staying. And, if you are dining out early in Sturgeon Bay, stop in for a coffee and desert at Kick Coffee.

Coffee shops are fun and a nice break from everyday routines. It’s always a treat to find a great coffee spot, and we’ve found one in Kick Coffee! Get a real kick, and hop into Kick Coffee for fun, food, atmosphere and great coffee! Tell Shannon we said “Hi” and that you found him on DoorCountyNavigator.com!
