Food/Dining : Sister Bay

Mission Grille
Intersection of Hwys. 42 and 57
920-854-9070

Know what the Number One town in Wisconsin is for fine dining?  Well, the Wisconsin Tourist Bureau named Sister Bay as # 1.  And The Mission Grille restaurant is one of the reasons why!  We had a delightful meal at The Mission Grille!

The Mission Grille in Sister Bay occupies what once was a church from 1912 until 1984. The shape of the building itself, and a pew serve as reminders of its past. In 1989, it became the Mission Grille!

There is also a three-level outdoor patio for dining on beautiful Door County days - and in season is surrounded by flowers - lovely. We love the al fresco option. The main dining hall is elegant, done up in a deep rose, with topiaries with white lights gracing the room. Even though it appears formal, you get a very comfortable feeling in the dining room -fine casual dining.
On one occasion, our review party dined here on the veranda, which has huge casement windows that open up and bring the outdoors in - without the bugs. Nice. Wooden tables and chair, a classy, open and clean feeling. The veranda can seat about 20 -  24.

The Menu
The dinner menu offers enough variety to satisfy just about every taste, including vegetarian and even gluten-free selections. For example, for starters you can order Bruschetta, Bayou Shrimp, chickpea cakes and more.
Salads like a Caesar or a creative Pear and Goat Cheese, are offered, as well as Lobster Bisque Soup, or a French Onion Soup Gratinee.

Main courses include a Certified Angus Beef(R)  prime rib in a 12 or 16 ounce cut , an 8 ounce filet, a Terra Aqua (a surf and turf) which includes and 8 ounce Certified Angus Beef(R) and half a pound of split king crab legs, Mission Stuffed Pork Chops, wild Alaskan salmon, and a Bistro Chicken which is pan seared and topped with Chevre goat cheese, wilted spinach, artichokes and lemon basil sauce.  Many other creative selections are offered.  See total dinner menu!

Additional fish and other seafood fares are offered, like Ahi Tuna or Mission Crab Risotto Cakes which are Maryland blue crab cakes sautéed and presented with a roasted garlic aioli, with sweet potato mash and Parmesan cream spinach.

Homemade desserts (changes, so check) included Crème Brulee, Mudd Pie and Lemon Crisp.  Awesome!

The Mission Grille also offers an early dinner menu (for 5 - 6PM) as well as special holiday menus that may include Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve, Easter and Mother's Day.

We love the food here, and like the variety of offerings for dinner.  The wine selection at Mission Grille is top notch! The Mission Grille is a Eleven-Time Wine Spectator Award Winner, and won Best of Award for Excellence.
There wine list is simply spectacular.  In addition, The Mission Grille was chosen by Gourmet Magazine(R) as one of the 12 best restaurants in Wisconsin!  You will enjoy!

Mission Grille will even cater parties, at their place or yours!
This is a complete fine dining restaurant, with great wine and food, a martini and wine bar (5PM - Midnight) and elegant appointments - yet, it's Door County - you can be casually dressed!  Now, your mission is to get in here for a fabulous dinner!

Mission Grille is open year-round for dinner, again, with special menus during the Holidays! Our experience was very positive at Mission Grille! We have returned again and again! You will love the The Mission Grille so check them out.  And  please tell them that DoorCountyNavigator.com sent you!
