Food/Dining : Egg Harbor

Hof Restaurant at Alpine Resort
7715 Alpine Road
Egg Harbor
920-868-3000

The setting for the dining room for The Hof is wonderful, right on the waters of Green Bay and Egg Harbor - get a table near the windows and enjoy a truly wonderful panoramic view.   It is fabulous!

We spent some time in The Hof lounge speaking with Jim, the bartender. He was a delight to chat with and has lots of interesting stories. Ask him if he likes New York! And we have dined here several times since – we like it!

The restaurant is housed in the Alpine resort, a true resort from the past that gives you a warm, comfortable feeling like you were present when it was brand new. It really is quite a feeling, like you have stepped back to simpler times. This is an enjoyable "gathering place" with no glitz, and all people.  They have an excellent chef with a great background and deep experience.

The dining room is smoke-free, and music fills the air many nights from July through Labor Day!  Dinner is served nightly through Labor Day, then weekends – so always check to make sure.

So, whether you are staying at one of the resort's 52 rooms in the main building, or one of the 30+ cottages or dozen houses or golf chalets, you will enjoy taking a step into simpler times.   Wherever you are staying, take some to dine at the Hof!

The Dinners
We have ordered quite a few things from the menu, and have enjoyed them all.  From the Prime Rib (awesome!), Barbequed Ribs, to the Whitefish (very popular!) to Wiener Schnitzel, soups, salads and more.  There’s even a kids menu – this is a family-friendly place.

Menu Samples
A wide selection of dining options is available. Appetizers like a classic Shrimp Cocktail, the Alpine Fondue (garlic cheese bread with melted Swiss cheese dip), onion rings, excellent soups of the Day and more. Salad choices include a simple House Salad, or a luxurious Steak Salad – a sirloin on a bed of mixed greens with caramelized onions and more!

There is a lighter side items too like some sandwiches (a chicken or a Hof burger), or smaller sirloins, linguine or a ham steak.

For your main courses, you can select from the

  • Alpine Specials like Roast Duckling, Sauerbraten, Beef Tips Zurich, Wiener Schnitzel (with a mushroom reduction sauce – excellent), or a Fondue Chicken.
  • From the grill, you can order up The St. Moritz – a mignon of beef tenderloin with a brandy demi-glaze, or Pork Chops, BBQ Ribs, or Chicken – something for everybody!
  • Or, order from the water!  Get pan-friend walleye, an Atlantic Salmon, Perch, Whitefish (a broiled or beer-battered fillet) or shrimp.  And yes, there the great prime rib!

The above selections come complete with a salad, rolls, choice of starch and a fresh vegetable of the day.

The kids menu has the standard hamburger and cheeseburger, hot dog, a hot ham and cheese, chicken tenders, a grilled chicken breast, sausage pizza, pasta with tomato sauce, mac and cheese or even a kids special sirloin!  And some come with sides – our kid tester loved the pasta, mac and cheese the spaetzle side dish!

Breakfast

And the Hof also offers breakfast from omelets to pancakes, French toast, egg dishes and more.

The Alpine has a lot to offer with a great old-time resort right on the water, an enjoyable restaurant in The Hof with a wonderful view, lounge and 36 hole golf course!  We're coming back again and again!

Check out the Alpine for all it has! And please tell them you found them on DoorCountyNavigator.com!
