Activities : Sister Bay
Alpine is 36 holes, Red-White-Blue-Black (Black added in 2002). Pick your colors to make up 18, but during the peak season make reservations in advance, especially for the Blue course. And if you only play nine, you can’t pick Blue! In order of difficulty, Red is perhaps the tamest at a slope of 109 and 2,849 yards. Blue carries a slope of 114 at 3,009 yards. White is 3,198 yards and a slope of 117. Black, while not the longest in yards is the toughest to play with a slope of 119. We just played the Black for the first time, and the Black Nine are scenic and tough! And, you cannot walk the Black Nine – there are some great distances to traverse between holes, so a riding cart is mandatory. For our complete Black Nine experience, click Go Black Nine! And remember, Door County adds natural hazards that will influence your game which are probably not present at your home course. The presence of the bay will make your putts move towards it. Keep track of where it is and give your putts more or less break to compensate. Sloped fairways will make aiming a challenge (first hole of the Blue). Sloped or elevated greens may make you dizzy as you line up your putt. You will encounter all of these at Alpine which we found to be both challenging, from a golf perspective, and exhilarating because of the natural elements and its scenic landscape. For current Greens fees check out the Alpine Golf website. Riding carts, and pull carts are also available as well as golf packages for guests of the inn. Other amenities include season memberships, putting green, pro shop and on premise bar and grill. Alpine is located
one mile southwest of Egg Harbor on Highway G. One of the most scenic
courses in all of Door County! |
