The Salmon Depot Charter Fishing
Baileys Harbor
920-839-2272

We spoke with the Captain, Tim Dawidiuk, and he told us all about his Charter Fishing business that sets out from the beautiful Sturgeon Bay Marine Center Marina, aboard the largest charter fishing vessel in all of Door County!

Experienced Crew!
Salmon Depot Charter Fishing has been fishing the waters in Door County waters for over twenty years – that’s a lot of experience. In 2008, Tim Dawidiuk purcahsed the business, and he has a ton of experience as well, running another charter business too!  In addition, the Salmon Depot is a USCG Certified Inspected Vessel.

Go Fishing!
Book a fishing charter and head out on the Salmon Depot to fish for Salmon and Trout. The Captain tells us that Chinook Salmon makes up about 80% of their annual catch during the season, which runs from mid May through September. All equipment you need is supplied. And you will even find coffee and pastries in the mornings and soft drinks and snacks throughout the day – now that’s a nice touch! Passengers are welcome to bring their own lunch and drinks aboard, as well. Call the Captain if you have any questions about this.  A Wisconsin fishing license and stamp are required by all fishermen (over 16 years of age), and two day licenses are available (always check for current pricing). Customers can keep the fish they catch, and the Salmon Depot can have the fish filleted, vacuum-packed, frozen, and ready to be picked up before you leave Door County! How’s that for service?!

The Charters
The Salmon Depot offers two types of trips.

  1. A private trip can be arranged just for you and your group ranging from 1 to 13 passengers - visit their rates page on their website for current rates.
  2. There are also group trips from mid June through August. Usually 2-3 times per week The Salmon Depot can get enough people together to share the cost of a trip, which would cost about $80 - $100 per person for a half day trip. NOTE: Advanced reservations are required for all fishing trips on the Salmon Depot.

And yes, you can catch fish! The Captain tells us that since the 2003 season, the fishing has been excellent, and that there seems to be more fish in the lake than ever! In some seasons, during July, August, and September, they averaged 20 fish per day, and he hopes the trend will continue for upcoming seasons as well.

What Time Did the Captain Say?
Get up early! The Salmon Depot likes to start the trips at 4:00 a.m., because some of the best fishing can be during the first hours of light. However, the Captain realizes that you are on vacation, so . . . you there are afternoon trips too at 11, 12 or 1 PM.   So talk with Captain Nick, who captains The Salmon Depot, if you have any questions.

The Salmon Depot also offers scenic cruises too - see lighthouses, beautiful coastalines and more - for groups up to 13!  So give the Captain a call right now and set up your special Charter Fishing excursion! Visit The Salmon Depot’s website now to get more information, see some great pictures, click through to an article that Door County Magazine wrote about them, and get all the info you need to book your trip! We have reviewed a lot of great places to stay in Sturgeon Bay too – so stay in Sturgeon Bay and go fishing! Have a great time, and please tell the Captain that DoorCountyNavigator.com sent you! So Go Fish!
