24th ANNUAL POLAR BEAR SWIM - JACKSONPORT
Date of event: 1/01/10
Noon sharp – don’t be late! Lakeside Park Beach in Jacksonport on Hwy 57.  Take a dip in the icy waters if you dare!  This event is free to participants and visitors.  Participants will be required to complete a release form prior to entering the water.  Registration begins at 10:30 A.M., food and drinks available at 11:00 AM.  Call 920-823-2231, 920-823-2288 or go to www.doorbell.net/pbc

NEW YEAR'S DAY PARADE - EGG HARBOR
Date of event: 1/01/10
Annual New Year’s Day Parade usually starts at the south end of Egg Harbor at 1 PM - downtown. Anyone can participate, because “you are the parade!” – this is a fun and unusual parade! Regardless the weather, the parade marches on! 

NEW YEAR'S DAY LIVE ENTERTAINMENT - EGG HARBOR
Date of event: 1/01/10
The Carrington Pub & Grill, located in the Landmark Resort regularly offers a variety of live entertainment. On New Year’s Day from 9 PM to Midnight, the Rod Scheuer Duo will perform.  But, come early and enjoy the New Year’s Day Brunch and the Friday Fish Fry.  Call 920-868-3205

4th ANNUAL HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS CONCERT – FISH CREEK
Dates of event: 1/01/10 – 1/02/10
At the Old Gibraltar Town Hall.  American Folklore Theatre features Fred “Doc” Heide and Eric Lewis in this annual celebration of holiday music.  Traditional favorites, sing-a-longs, nostalgic songs of the past and some of Doc and Eric’s personal favorites from their CD, “Christmas in Door County. DOOR COUNTY WINTER WONDERLAND TOUR - 2010
Dates of event:         January 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th
                           February 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th
                           March 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th

Pickup is county-wide between 9:30 and 10:00 AM.  Trolley guests will tour/taste at an award winning winery, followed by a cozy sleigh ride through the Door’s most wintry landscapes. NO FAMILY LEFT INSIDE – BAILEYS HARBOR

2/13/10  Geocaching: Geocaching has been described as a “high-tech treasure hunt.”
3/12/10  Wander the Woods after Dark: On this hike, you’ll discover that night explorations can be great fun, and not at all frightening.

At The Ridges Sanctuary, 8288 Hwy Q, Baileys Harbor.
This series of Family Events is a collaborative effort with the Northern Door YMCA. To encourage families to reconnect with the outdoors.

CENTER STAGE – WASHINGTON ISLAND
Dates of event: 1/3/10 To 5/2/10
Island Players will present its tenth season of “Center Stage,” an informal monthly afternoon of play readings performed at the Recreation Center. In January, “Center Stage” will sponsor a retrospective of Island Players’ 25 years of serving the community. As part of the program, former Board members will be honored and invited to share stories from past years. 2- 4 PM on the first Sunday of each month. http://www.islandplayers.org/

GUIDED SNOWSHOE HIKES AT THE RIDGES SANCTUARY -BAILEYS HARBOR

The Ridges in winter shows a beautiful, serene landscape that is enjoyed by those who love Wisconsin winters. These hikes with a Ridges naturalist cover the cultural and natural history of the ridges and swales in their “off season”. Enjoy a leisurely hike on level terrain. FOLK CONCERT SERIES AT THE WHITE GULL INN - FISH CREEK

Lou and Peter Berryman, regulars to this White Gull Inn series, will kick off the 2010 year and their national tour here in Fish Creek.  As popular as our concert, the optional pre-concert dinner served at 6:00 PM will include Italian sausage lasagna with charred tomatoes and roast garlic, sun dried tomato parmesan Focaccia, Classic Caesar salad, Chocolate gelato for dessert - $18.95. Concert begins at 8:00 PM. THE BIG READ 2010: My ANTONIA BY WILLA CATHER

Peninsula Players and Door County Library present a month-long series of events to begin January 11th as The Big Read Door County 2010 celebrates and explores Willa Cather’s “My Antonia”. MILLER ART MUSEUM – STURGEON BAY
EXHIBIT: BARBARA’S FARM BY DAN ANDERSON
Dates of event: 1/16/10 To 3/2/10
The first of seven changing exhibits annually, in this exhibit, Dan Anderson creates a childhood memoir of this northern Door Farm where he played as a child. THIRD AVENUE PLAYHOUSE – STURGEON BAY

“My Antonia” directed by Joseph Sargeant.  1995 film based on Willa Cather’s “My Antonia”, featuring Jason Robards, Neil Patrick Harris and Eva Marie Saint.  This film is presented as part of The Big Read program.  2 PM and 7 PM Saturday, 239 North Third Avenue. ANNUAL CANDLELIGHT SKI – STURGEON BAY
Date of event: 1/30/10
This very popular event is held annually at Whitefish Dunes State Park, 3275 Clark Lake Road, on the last Saturday of January.  Join the Friends of Whitefish Dunes for a night of skiing and fun on snow covered, candle lit trails.  The picnic shelter will be open and the fireplace lit. Hot beverages and cookies will be provided to warm the insides and provide energy. A park sticker is required to join in the evening event, but the event is free.
