  • 5:00 – 8:00 PM. This very popular event is held annually at Whitefish Dunes State Park, 3275 Clark Lake Road, on the last Saturday of January. Join the Friends of Whitefish Dunes for a night of skiing and fun on snow covered, candle lit trails. The picnic shelter will be open and the fireplace lit. Hot beverages and cookies will be provided to warm the insides and provide energy. A park sticker is required to join in the evening event, but the event is free.   • Date of Event: 2/4/17 At Peninsula State Park. 5:30 -8 PM. Ski gently rolling one-mile, candle-lit trail through the woods. Bonfire with refreshments at the warming shelter. If there is not enough snow there will still be a candlelight hike. Meet at Lot 5- 9462 Shore Road. Park sticker required, donation suggested.   • Date of Event: 2/11/17 At Newport State Park 5:50-8:30 PM. Start at Parking lot #3, this ski, hike, or snowshoe of an easy 1 mile trail lit by homemade candles is sponsored by Newport State Park and the Newport Wilderness Society. Enjoy a bonfire, refreshments and lit grills to greet you at the end of the trail. Call for more info: 920-854-2500. Park sticker required.
  • Enjoy one of the premier fishing contests on Lake Michigan. The Brown Trout Tourney marks the kick off of the fishing season. There is over $7,000 in prizes to be won and tickets are only $25. The BHCA will be selling drinks & there will be a food truck selling all kinds of food at the Baileys Harbor weigh in throughout the weekend. Tickets will be for sale until close of business Friday April 22 and can be purchased ahead of time using a credit card. For details call 920-839-2366.
